Additional info & updates

**All scholarship amounts are yearly.
04/20/10- WL email from UNC.

04/05/10- Rejected at USC via small white envelope.

04/03/10- Rejected at Vandy via small white envelope.

03/31/10-Decision letters sent from Vandy and USC

03/30/10- Rejected at WashU via email.

03/19/10- WL at W&M via email.

03/09/10- Received an email acceptance from OSU and a scholarship offer then next day via email.

2/27/10- Received a large envelope to Emory with an acceptance. Email from AU: WL. Small letter from Baylor: WL. Very surprised by both these WL's.

2/16/10-Received an voice mail from GM accepting me to their law program. Also received a large envelope accepting me into USD.

2/12/10- WL via email from BU

2/3/10- Tuition equalization at UGA for the first year and they say gaining residency is easy after the first year.

2/2/10- Received an email from Arizona saying they reviewed my application but wanted more information as to my reason for wanting to attend Arizona. I'm hoping to hear from ND and WashU this week.

1/29/10-Accepted at SMU via voicemail. Received a scholarship notification from W&L for 17,000 a yr which I was very happy about. This helps make it a top contender. I also got the a 12,500 scholarship from Kansas the first year and 5,000 the second year. This seemed extremely low for a school not ranked as high as the others offering much much more.

1/25/10- Rejected at BC via a small envelope.

1/22/10- In at IU via Priority Mail Packet and 15k a year not contingent on rank.

1/20/10- Decision rendered at BC

1/19/10- Rejected from GW via a small envelope.

1/14/10- WL at Minn via email. The graph makes it seem like 167 was there cut off. Too bad. First none acceptance of the cycle.

1/8/10- In at UIUC via email with a guaranteed 15k a year without any requirement.

12/18/09- Got into Wake via email and Alabama sent an email adv scholarship of 20k a yr contingent on being in the top 1/3rd. Also got an email from Houston congratulating me on being accepted. Makes it 10/10, hopefully this doesn't mean a rejection is imminent.

12/14/09- Decided to throw some big reach schools in the mix. Since I've been 8 for 8 so far I want to make sure I apply to some tougher schools. I know my list is extensive (toping out at 32) but I am weighing a lot of factors including location, school caliber, and scholarship offers. Houston said my decision letter will be mailed out tomorrow. Hopefully it'll make number nine.

12/10/09- Accepted at Alabama via phone call. They said they'd be willing to help with travel expenses for the open house in Jan. Hopefully this means they are also giving some scholarship money in their mailing. Also received acceptances from South Carolina (small envelope) and Florida (big envelope). No merit scholarship offers till March on either. I've read people got scholarship money over the phone from Bama, but I don't think she made mention of it. Who knows. Also got a holiday card from Stetson which was a nice touch.

12/07/09- Accepted at W&L via small white envelope. I was almost positive it was a rejection letter.

12/04/09- Washington & Lee letter sent. Accepted at Stetson with a full ride plus 5,000 dollars a year.

12/02/09- Kansas decision letter sent.

11/30/09- Florida's status checker says "Decision Letter In Transit". What is the point of status checker???

11/26/09- UT sent an email saying they were holding my application for the regular applicant pool. I suppose this is better then a rejection.

11/24/09- Finally got a status checker from UT. About time! Also received a big envelope from Miami with my acceptance and an invitation to visit.

11/23/09- Stetson status checker just reads Decision Status: Decision Made on File. Frustrating. Im guessing they are mailing a decision. New goal for the final 5 apps is 12/1.

11/17/09- Got into UGA via status checker. I was very surprised. I was only checking to see if my application was complete, and was ecstatic to see the status being: Congratulations! You have been admitted. I'm very anxious to hear what the scholarship offer is. Very big relief to be in somewhere, especially a top personal pick.

11/2- Received a free night in a hotel to go visit Wash&Lee. Pretty cool. And applied to Bama for the 20 bucks from itunes. I just have no idea how I get it now... hmmm

11/1- Im hoping to have all my apps in by Nov 15th

I got the same message from UF's status checker today... Hopefully it is good news for us both.

Hey, just wondering why SMU was so low on your list. I assumed it would be higher since you live in Dallas. Is it just the caliber of the other schools that has it as your 13th choice?

Thanks for posting

I have family in both Tulsa and San Antonio, so I'm keeping them in mind in case I need to be near family for various reasons. Hence the applications. Good luck on UT, I really hope you get in. Even being held over is a positive thing at this point.

It was UT. Now, probably USC, though that depends somewhat on money. Realistically, Georgia, SMU, Minnesota, and Illinois are all promising alternatives for me. I hope.

I bet you would have been pissed if it was a Christmas Card.

You and I applied to many of the same schools (and we have very similar numbers). You applied to a few I thought I'd have no shot at and didn't apply to as a result. Do you think you have a shot at GULC, Cornell and Vandy? Just curious and I do hope you get in. Now I guess I'm just second-guessing myself. Good luck!

I didn't get the phone call from them since I live abroad. But I believe they told my father about the scholarship and I received an e-mail (since they couldn't call me) that stated the scholarship amount with the acceptance. It was also in the acceptance package that came a few days later. Hope you got one too. Good luck!

Hey, wanted to touch base with you. How are things going? Where are you leaning? P.S. The Spurs are catching up!

Monday, November 30 2009 at 07:00 PM

I'm actually leaning towards Illinois at this point, too. Best school I've been accepted to and I wouldn't mind ending up in Chi-town someday (plus, the scholarship was unexpected). Still, I'm waiting eagerly on SMU and a few other schools. Still no final word from UT?

Wash U

Seems like the cutoff for Wash U is around 167, but I'm pulling for you. I barely heard back from Baylor. Have you heard anything? Congrats on SMU

Monday, November 30 2009 at 07:00 PM

Sorry to hear about Wash U. So what are you top options?
