Jan. 28 - Decision Rendered @ Penn
Jan. 29 - Deferred to regular decision @ SMU(status checker)
Jan. 30 - Accepted @ Tulane(Email) & Waitlisted @ Vanderbilt
Feb. 3 - Rejection Trifecta - Columbia, Penn, Boston College(mail)
Feb. 4 - Scholarship from Alabama, $20,000/yr renewable with 3.0
Feb. 5 - Scholarship from Tulane, $30,000/yr renewable with 3.0
Feb. 6 - Confirmed I will be visiting Alabama next week
Feb. 7 - Held at Indiana(mail)
Feb. 15 - After my Alabama visit, I've made a few decisions:
First, I'll be withdrawing from Tulane this week. No reason to hold up scholarship money when I know I'd attend Alabama before Tulane.
Second, if it comes down to Alabama, I'd be happy to attend there, admittedly with some reservations.
Third, I will remain on the waitlists at GTown and Virginia until July 1st. These are two schools I would forgo the scholarship at Alabama to attend. In addition, I have made public 3 apps(Texas, Duke, Northwestern) that for which I would forgo the scholarship at Alabama and if waitlisted would wait until July 1st. For Northwestern and Texas, I might consider extending my arbitrary deadline a little further.
Feb. 18 - Went to decision at Duke. Also, received package from parents with all mail from law schools and in my Penn rejection letter it states:
"We congratulate you on your many achievements to date and recognize the contributions that you have made to this University as a Penn Student."
Only problem is I never went to Penn.
Feb. 20 - Waitlisted at Duke(email)
Mar. 1 - Cornell will be reviewing my file with only one professor recommendation and one employee recommendation. I am trying to procure another but it is an almost certain rejection because of this snafu.
Mar. 2 - Oklahoma, seriously, a waitlist?
Mar. 9 - Things have started to slow and become dull even though I have like ten decisions left - I miss the news almost every couple days of February and January, rejections and all.
Mar. 9 - Waitlisted at UT
Mar. 13 - Waitlisted at Washington and Lee
Mar. 21 - Emailed Baylor earlier this past week to see what the deal is on my application. Received a response today saying a decision should arrive soon. I bet it will be a rejection because of annoyance.
Mar. 24 - Baylor acceptance.
Mar. 25 - Rejected from Emory
Apr. 03 - Went to decision at Cornell, assuming rejection because no change in status checker.
Apr. 06 - Received an indecision from WUSTL - they placed me on Hold. Hooray. Also, officially rejected from Cornell.
Apr. 21 - Waitlisted at IU-Bloomington - looks like they are already treating me like their brethren in the US News 20-29 rankings. I would've stayed on this list if received notification earlier due to the fact I liked IU(my parents were IU undergrads), but I can't bear another waitlist.
Apr. 24 - Rejected at UCLA(mail) and waitlisted at Northwestern
Apr. 25 - Withdrew from the Georgetown and Vanderbilt waitlists.
Apr. 26 - Submitted additional LOCIs to Virginia, Duke, Texas, and Northwestern. Submitted letter confirming my intent to ride the waitlist a little at NU.
May 14 - Waitlisted at SMU. The joke continues.
June 12 - While watching people get off waitlists at other schools I'm still in the running for - Northwestern and WUSTL, I really just want this process to be finished. I'm meh on WUSTL but hopeful about Northwestern. Self imposed deadline is coming up quickly.
June 26 - I was literally writing out a check for a deposit on an apartment in Tuscaloosa when WUSTL emails me. They accepted me and gave me a scholarship but I don't know if it will be enough.
July 6 - Withdrew from WUSTL sometime last week; Bama it is.

I thought about the same thing too...if i get hosed in the cycle im going to apply there.
About ND Saturday, November 15th, 2008 at 6:26 pm
I'd think you have a better shot at it than I do but who knows when we'll find out. Everybody but one guy on here have been RD applicants.
ND Sunday, November 16th, 2008 at 9:01 am
sent a letter (in a regular-sized envelope), but no email.
long time Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Havent heard from you since before Oct LSAT. (we were prepping on the importworld.com turned LSAT website). Hope your cycle goes well, you obviously did well in Oct. and I think you should be good at UVA ED... just my .02 cents.
Baylor Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Thanks for the congrats, and no, I haven't heard anything about scholarship money. I though that was a bit weird, but we'll see what comes with the acceptance packet. I'll be interested in watching your cycle since our numbers are similar. Sorry about ND, I feel that I am going to be in the same boat for UT. Best of luck to you!
UT Thursday, December 4th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
Still no word for me...holding out hope for an EA acceptance, surely they have a few left to give.
fingers crossed Sunday, December 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
lets hope so...
Monday, December 8th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Good luck with Texas.
Can't believe ND turned down your numbers, and in state to boot. Their loss.

Thanks Monday, December 8th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
The first one is nice, I was starting to get pretty downcast about the whole situation (and wondering if my roommate had sneaked some F-bombs in my PS when I wasn't looking). Still shocked by your ND reject but I'm that one (or many!) T14 accepts will make up for it.
UT hold Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 1:23 pm
Well, I got the hold email, too. No love for splitters during early decision from UT, I suppose.
UT Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
Yeah, UT is definitely my #1. Hopefully we'll hear something positive early in the regular decision cycle. Good luck with Georgetown!
G-Town Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 at 3:08 am
Hopefully that's a nice early X-mas present for you, good luck TC!
Friday, December 12th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Thanks, congrats to you too!
No...my letter doesn't say anything like that. It says something about how I am one of the applicants they would like to let in, and that I will be given priority in the waitlist (but not within the preferred waitlist). It also says that the preferred waitlist is not ranked.

Hm, I don't know...all I've heard about is a general waitlist, and the preferred waitlist.
The exact text of mine is:
"Applicants on the Preferred Waiting List are among those we would like to include in our first year class. These applicants have the strongest credentials of all waiting list candidates and, as a result, receive priority consideration if spaces become available..."
I'm just hoping for the best I guess.

Georgetown Saturday, December 13th, 2008 at 12:43 pm
Hey, I was put on the regular waitlist. Good luck in your cycle!
Yeah man Saturday, December 13th, 2008 at 6:12 pm
I'm sure you'll get the Wash U acceptance. I think, for better or for worse, they are one of the schools that sees the numbers more importantly than the backstory, and your 170 is like the holy grail for them. I kinda doubtful that the 90K they gave splitters last year will be coming our way though.
The preferred waitlist at Georgetown will probably turn into an acceptance. Remember how big their class is, so they'll have a ton of movement, in my opinion. As of now, you are much closer to the T14 than I am.

That's a bummer TC, they rejected me as well. Hopefully the new year is kinder to you.
Friday, January 2nd, 2009 at 2:49 pm
I'm surprised you got dinged at Minn too. Congrats on GTown tho!
I've Friday, January 9th, 2009 at 5:07 pm
been following your cycle. Some of these rejections seem straight up bizarre. I know you've got some harmful things on your resume, or whatever, but this is getting downright ridiculous. That being said, I'm sure you have a bunch of acceptances coming. Care to PM me your other schools?
My cycle is going well, but nothing there is much of a suprise, and i'm sure the schools will eventually come around to your side. With the big boys, you're 0-0-2, i'm 0-1-1, so in that aspect you are winning.

NW Monday, January 19th, 2009 at 1:49 pm
No, I didn't. Looking back, I was overseas and it would have been a hassle, but I wish I would have. I'm not feeling very confident. I also don't have any true work experience, and I didn't write the why NW essay. I think my odds are VERY low for an admit there, but I'm holding out hope.
But yeah, the 8 weeks are up in a about a week or so. Likely won't be good news though.

Baylor Thursday, January 22nd, 2009 at 10:17 am
check out Baylor's status checker...mine says decision has been sent but I did not get an email, most like a rejection? Good luck with everything!
Does Bama call? Thursday, January 22nd, 2009 at 2:44 pm
I can't see how they would reject you... I hope you're wrong so you have one under your belt.
Vandy Friday, January 23rd, 2009 at 3:06 pm
Don't think Denial. From the looks of it a whole mass of splitters went today. Im thinking waitlist/ins.
Decision at vanderbilt Friday, January 23rd, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Uhoh. Splitters everywhere. I'll put my money on waitlist.
congrats! Saturday, January 24th, 2009 at 8:44 am
i've seen you around on LSD and i'm so glad to see good news! congrats!
Baylor Saturday, January 24th, 2009 at 2:18 pm
Thanks for all the encouragement. After much reflection it was probably an LGBT advocacy internship that I put on my resume that kept me out (I probably wouldn't have fit in anyways...)
Congrats on Bama! Keep me posted on how the rest of your cycle goes!

Congratulations again TC!
UT Sunday, January 25th, 2009 at 6:18 am
you know what's funny, I think I just decided to withdraw from UT. Just doesn't make sense for me. Do you think I can attach a note asking if they can take TC in my place???
Congrats Monday, January 26th, 2009 at 11:37 am
On the first acceptance! Hopefully some more good news will follow.
Re: Vandy Monday, January 26th, 2009 at 9:09 pm
Good luck to you as well! Here's to hoping we'll hear from them this week.
SMU Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 at 9:40 am
Check out this thread: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=51824
I actually visited SMU yesterday and they said decisions won't be out for another 2-3 weeks, they seem to be backlogged. I think we both have a strong chance. GL!

Oh, and my status checker hasn't changed since 1/9/09 when I went complete, but I am not ED.
switcharoo Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 at 5:31 pm
Ok that's a deal. Just make sure on the first day of class you're wearing a dress, a wig, and heels. They won't even notice...
I knew it! Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
I knew Bama couldn't reject you! congrats!
Congrats on Tulane Friday, January 30th, 2009 at 3:25 pm
Looks like your cycle has started to turn around!
SMU Friday, January 30th, 2009 at 4:43 pm
HEY!

I don't know what the deal is, if I'm getting a scholly from them or not. I thought I would at least get something.
Ow Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 at 2:05 am
3 dings in one day. That just sucks, sorry TC
Tulane Thursday, February 5th, 2009 at 11:11 am
Does the money Tulane is offering make it a possibility versus one of the T14 you applied to?
Schollys Thursday, February 5th, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Congrats on the big scholarship offers.
haha Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at 3:27 am
I emailed alabama, and just got a response back saying "they are considering applicants". lol, guess they aren't a fan of me.
How was the visit there for you?

Penn Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
That letter is pretty rough. That would probably be an auto-rejection if an applicant did that, but it amazes me when schools make mistakes like that.
UT Tuesday, February 24th, 2009 at 12:11 am
Thanks, I hope the decision comes quickly, too. I'm tired of waiting, but I'll gladly wait longer for an acceptance instead of getting a quick rejection. Best of luck to you!
Mich WL Monday, March 2nd, 2009 at 12:24 pm
I won't say I'm happy with it, but I'm not disappointed at all. Its about what I expected from them. I didn't write the WHY MICH essay, so I'll be doing that for my LOCI.
Still Bama #1 for you?
Still Bama #1 for you?
UT Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 at 9:31 pm

I'm leaning towards Villanova bc of FSU's placement in FL (5% in NLJ 250). How about you? Where are you going to put in a seat deposit?
Thanks Saturday, April 4th, 2009 at 12:08 am
It feels good, but one of those WL is gonna happen for you. But whats with this June 1st deadline?
I'm staying on till they tell me to go away.
